All eight employee contracts that go into effect Friday and expire Dec. 31, 2010, were approved at the supervisors’ Dec. 23 meeting. The reduced work week, from the normal 40-hour work week, varies for each employee and reflects budget cuts the supervisors made while drafting the 2010 budget. Employees also worked reduced hours in 2009. In the contracts, all employees are entitled to health care and holiday time that is comparable to township Kansas Kansas Teacher Organization Union contracts. If employees decline insurance coverage, they are eligible for a 25-percent reimbursement of the health care package cost at the end of the year. The employees fall into the Pennsylvania Act 205 pension, and the township and the employee make a 6-percent salary contribution, aside from police Chief Charles Altmiller, who is covered under a police pension plan, and Zoning and master code professional Officer Larry Sims, who will not work enough hours in 2010 to be eligible for pension. Each employee has the option to sign onto a $35,000 life insurance policy that drops to $10,000 after retirement. Altmiller has the option to sign onto a $50,000 life insurance policy that drops to $10,000 after retirement. The amount of personal, vacation and sick days vary from employee to employee. Highlights from each contract are: n Township Manager Steve Hahn, $23.75 per hour in a 38.5-hour work week. He has 1¼ sick days each month and five personal days. He has four weeks and two days vacation until his 10th year of employment when he will receive five weeks.
